I had not expected that by subscribing to the substack of mutual shitposter from twitter dot com I would enter a portal to such a deeply fascinating intellectual history.

This is wonderful stuff, I might even start paying for this once my financial situation improves. In the meantime I thank you for putting out everything for free.

I can imagine how exciting gnosticism must have been in the 4th and 5th century Roman empire. As Christianity became first the preferred religion and then hegemonic, increasingly intolerant not only of other faiths but of classical philosophy as well, joining a group of people who basing their ideas upon Plato and Plotinus claimed the new god was actually malevolent and all his servants agents of deception must have been exhilarating.
